Tamara Hannon, MD, Q4: Would You Consider Using Rosiglitazone if Approved?

Dr. Tamara Hannon talks about the possibility of using rosiglitazone as therapy for children and teens. (Note that this video interview was done before the FDA re-approved rosiglitazone for limited use in adults.) She notes that the drug is more effective with metformin and that some patients simply cannot achieve metabolic control with metformin alone. Others also do not want to take insulin. As always, it is important to weight all of the risks and benefits in each case, and make sure that the patient and their family are fully informed of all the side-effects and benefits.
