A study found short bursts of fast walking resulted in better blood glucose control than did walking at a steady pace. Data on participants aged 57 to 61 revealed that only the interval walkers achieved a reduction in glucose levels at four months, while the control group and those who walked at a continuous pace showed no improvement.
