…who has been in private practice for over 20 years, is telling his patients, “When the articles came out, the American Diabetes Association commented…”
“…that the studies were inconclusive and patients should continue to take their Lantus insulin. Sanofi-aventis has looked at over 70,000 patients in their own clinical data base and could not show any risk between the use of Lantus and increased cancer risk. The group of studies did not identify any documentable increased risk. These studies also did not take into account that the patients were older, obese and had diabetes, all risk factors for cancer.”
“I am recommending to my patients, that they stay on their Lantus, make no changes and certainly await more reliable data before getting too excited.”
