As 2017 draws to a close, every news outlet looks back to see what things made a real difference. We have our most popular articles for each month of the year. Steve and I can also look back over the past seventeen and a half years and see what we have accomplished.

For those of you who don’t know it, we were two pharmacists who pestered every drug company, meter company and diabetes company to let us into the diabetes world.

We started this newsletter for a few pharmacists with no expectations of greatness. However because of you our readers, our fantastic interns, our well known Advisory Board members and the hardworking support staff that makes our jobs easy, we have grown into one of the largest and longest running healthcare e-zines available today.

FDA has approved Merck and Pfizer’s oral SGLT-2 inhibitor, Steglatro (ertugliflozin) tablets, and Steglujan (ertugliflozin + sitagliptin) as an adjunct to diet and exercise for improving glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes. The FDA also approved Segluromet (ertugliflozin + metformin) for the same indication in patients already treated with Steglatro or metformin with inadequately controlled type 2 diabetes and patients who are already treated with combination of ertugliflozin and metformin.

2017 was book-ended by the ADA: the new 2017 guidelines were the most popular article in January, and in December the 2018 guidelines took center stage. Please take a look back with us at everything that happened in between. We thank you for your readership this year, and look forward to sharing the important diabetes news of 2018.
