They reviewed multiple studies, including DAPA-HF, EMPEROR-REDUCED, SOLOIST-WHF, CANVAS and CANVAS-R, to put together two very concise articles on the cardiovascular and renal benefits in heart failure (Laterpay) and the reduction of hospitalizations in patients with diabetes.

CREDENCE trial shows that canagliflozin, an SGLT2 inhibitor, lowers the risk of cardiovascular and renal events in patients with T2DM, regardless of prior history of heart failure. 

Additional benefits are observed with dose escalation of semaglutide for patients with type 2 diabetes.

Sexual health questionnaires can be used as an early detection tool for men’s CVD, coronary heart disease, stroke, and T2D.  

People with diabetes are more sensitive to increased inflammatory response, contributing to a fast spread of COVID-19 infection.

Metformin’s primary safety concern in patients with impaired renal function is its ability to cause lactic acidosis.
