When you work with children with diabetes, you often find out that many times the parents blame themselves for causing the disease. After a time they move to overprotecting their children and keeping them from enjoying many of the fun things of life as they grow up. This constant banter can often affect the child even when they become an adult. In this week’s Disaster Averted, an educator shares her experience with a young adult who felt like her diabetes was preventing her from ever being a parent.
