FDA issues hold on Avandia vs Actos study: Federal health officials say new patients should not be enrolled in the study, after experts last week said Avandia increases heart risks.

FDA Okays New Hypertension Polypill Tribenzor by Daiichi Sankyo: The pill contains a combination of three hypertension drugs — olmesartan medoxomil, amlodipine, and hydrochlorothiazide — to treat patients whose blood pressure is not controlled on angiotensin receptor blockers, calcium channel blockers or diuretics. It is not approved as an initial therapy for hypertension.
