Modified Vial Specifications for Humulin R U-500 (Concentrated) 

Eli Lilly and Company has updated the Humulin R U-500 (500 units/mL) vials. These slight modifications will not change the volume (20 mL), storage, label, or packaging of Humulin R U-500. The new vials will have a lower fill level of liquid than the previous vials, yet they still will contain 20 mL (10,000 units) of Humulin R U-500 insulin. The changes include new tubing vial has sharper, flatter shoulders than previous vial, and the vial will have thinner walls. The National Drug Code (NDC) identifier is 0002-8501-01.
