Eating too fast, and not chewing long enough can lead to poor digestion and poor weight control. The HAPIfork is an electronic fork that can monitor patients’ eating habits. The HAPIfork provides precise information about eating schedule and alerts patients with the help of indicator lights when they are eating too fast. Every time they bring food from their plates to their mouths with the HAPIfork, a "fork serving," the speed of this action is measured. The HAPIfork also measures: total mealtime; the amount of "fork servings" taken per minute; and intervals between "fork servings". This information is then uploaded via USB to an Online Dashboard to track progress.
