CardeaScreen

CardeascreenA new portable highly accurate screening device helps to screen for heart problems in young athletes. Young athletes can be at risk of sudden cardiac arrest because of unrecognized congenital heart defects, but now a handheld device may help identify those at risk. The handheld CardeaScreen wirelessly connects to a Windows-based computer where software analyzes the ECG and provides a diagnostic recommendation. The device is FDA-approved and designed to be used during preparticipation exams for participants 14 and older. The company said the device has a lower rate of false positives than a typical ECG device because CardeaScreen was designed specifically for athlete screening. The device could be used for students with diabetes participating in sports.
