Teaching companies how to increase physical activity, host nutrition seminars and offer healthier lunch options.
A lot of companies receive praise for good financials, but what about good health? The American Diabetes Association (ADA) has announced its Corporate Health Ambassador initiative, which encourages companies to promote healthier lifestyles among their employees.
Because poor diet and physical inactivity are great contributors to the overwhelming increase in type 2 diabetes in America, ADA is working with companies to promote healthier living. To date, a number or major American corporations – including Eli Lilly and Company, Rite Aid Corporation and State Farm – have pledged to become ADA Corporate Health Ambassadors. Actions these companies have taken include putting walking programs in place to encourage their workers to increase physical activity, hosting nutrition seminars and offering healthier lunch options.
