PaQ(TM) can help type 2 diabetic patients increase compliance as well as provide better and safer glycemic management….

PaQ(TM), developed by CeQur SA, is a simple insulin delivery device that comprises a disposable insulin reservoir attached to a reusable insulin monitor. Since PaQ(TM) is a small device, it can be discreetly worn without being noticed. The device can safely and effectively provide three days of consistent, basal insulin delivery along with easy, on-demand bolus insulin.

Data showed that half of all patients who need multiple dose of insulin per day report intentionally skip doses because they were inconvenient, embarrassing, painful, and/or disruptive to daily activities. Also, there is a large number of type 2 diabetic patients who cannot achieve appropriate glycemic control by self-injecting insulin.

A study was led by Professor Thomas Pieber, head of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, at the University Hospital in Graz, Austria, to study the safety and efficacy of PaQ(TM). Initial data showed some optimistic results. According to Professor Pieber, "PaQ was logically designed to address common, specific treatment challenges faced by people with type 2 diabetes. This study provides encouraging initial evidence that simple devices such as PaQ may help us reduce the incidence and impact of poor glycemic control among these individuals."

CeQur was established in January 2008. The company’s lead product candidate is the PaQ(TM) Insulin Delivery Device, a novel, wearable device that provides freedom from multiple daily injections. More information can be found at www.cequrcorp.com.
