The incidence of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes among young people has increased more than 20% over the past decade. Children are now developing type 2 — once known as "adult onset" diabetes — and are showing "adult" signs of diabetes complications such as nerve damage. One out of every 4 senior citizens is currently being treated for diabetes.
