Early insulin initiation significantly lowered A1C levels and increased odds of reaching less than 8% A1C levels among type 2 diabetes patients older than 65 who also took oral antidiabetes drugs, compared to those who delayed insulin initiation, according to a study. Researchers found no significant differences in hypoglycemia events or total costs between the groups. Journal of the American Geriatrics Society
