As I watch the news this evening, the top subjects are COVID, COVID hospitalizations, COVID deaths and the vaccine. The number of new cases and hospitalizations are rising at a rate that will overwhelm the healthcare system and put many high risk patients in a situation of potentially having nowhere to go for care. Although the vaccines that are coming look very promising, it will likely be late in the summer before the majority of our patents get a chance for the vaccine.
Since the start of the pandemic, patients with diabetes have been known to have increased risk of severe complications and need to be extra careful. Learning to predict how a patient’s health issues can affect the seriousness of a Corona infection may just save your patient’s life.
