Editor's Note
Over the past 2 months, we have shared information from our clinical textbook on the relationship of Diabetes and Obstructive Sleep Apnea. OSA is often left undiagnosed in diabetes patients and each of the two conditions can worsen the other. This week, we look at some of the other effects that the combination can have. I am not going to spoil the surprise of what one of them is, but let me just say that we may all be glad that there are self-driving cars on the horizon.

Other OSA comorbidities: Road traffic accidents — Several cross-sectional studies using driving simulators showed worse driving performance and increased risk of road traffic accidents in patients with OSA. In a sample of 913 employed adults whose motor vehicle accident history was obtained from a statewide database covering the period 1988–1993, men with OSA were more likely to have at least one accident in 5 years compared to those without OSA.
