There is plenty of evidence that most patients use apps on their phones to keep track of almost everything in their lives. There are apps for steps and apps for yoga, there are apps for banking and apps for investing. Don’t forget the apps for applying make-up properly or for selling your used clothes, or betting on horse races — and even for making a call.

The use of apps has become so common that it is now much easier to convince a patient to use an app to manage their health, including how they are doing with gestational diabetes.

This week our intern, Mia Flowers, PharmD Candidate from FAMU College of pharmacy, shares the results of a wide ranging study looking at the use of mobile devices to help manage gestational diabetes and why tight control is a definite plus for both mom and the newborn.
