Letter from the Editor: 100 Ways to Cut Calories, Benefits of Magnesium

This week the US Pro Challenge starts in Colorado. This event pits the top 3 finishers in last month’s Tour de France against over 200 hundred of the world’s top road cyclists, in what is billed as the highest altitude mountain climbs ever attempted. We all have a special interest as Team Type 1, sponsored by Sanofi, will be sending their professional team to the Pro Challenge, and we will be following them. This team includes six members with Type 1 diabetes, and they will be out to set some new records.  

While we can only wish our patients would be as fit as these riders, we know that any activity is better than none and our two interns from LECOM College of Pharmacy, Brandon Flohr and Pinang Balsara, have prepared a guide to help our patients figure out a hundred ways to burn calories and how much time they have to spend to burn up a serving of their favorite foods.
