I was looking over some old CE programs I have done for nurses and pharmacists on diabetes. One of the programs I had presented was on the relationship of sleep apnea and diabetes. We discussed the increased incidence of diabetes in patients with sleep apnea, and how the research actually showed a causative effect.

This week, our intern Alexandria Bartley from FAMU College of Pharmacy looked at some newer information on what disease states cause an increase in the development of diabetes. One of those causes was insomnia and poor sleep quality. To learn what other diagnoses can lead to increased development of diabetes, click here for our Laterpay feature.
