Our good friend — and gadget wearing friend — from Diabetic Investor, David Kliff, was at the recent ADA Scientific Sessions and he was talking about TIR. This is the new standard for measuring control of insulin-using diabetes patients. For those of you who don’t know, TIR means “time in range.” This refers to the amount of time per day the patient is between 70 and 180 mg/dl.
Although this sounds like a great way to justify the use of CGM and Insulin Pump combination, there is a new study out that points to the validity of using TIR to successfully manage your patient, and our FAMU PharmD Candidate, Maya Rudolph, has an overview of the reasons these 3 letters will likely become the standard of care going forward.
