Happy New Year!

Now that the last leftovers of the holidays are gone and the last big party of the season is over, our patients will make resolutions to eat better, lose weight, exercise more and lower their A1c’s. There will be at least 100 new commercials, YouTube videos, and gadgets ready for our patients to spend their money on. This also means that patients will be coming to you for help. Now would be a good time to consider using the GLP-1 analogs. This week we have 2 articles that will help you understand how this class of drugs can be of great benefit for weight loss, and even in giving patients the energy to exercise more (see Item 2 and  Item 3).

You might also consider an SGLT-2 inhibitor for these patients. Item 6 shows how they can affect blood pressure as well as glucose levels. To gain even more knowledge, you will want to read our special newsletter on SGLT-2 inhibitors that we sent out earlier this week.
