Now that the cold cold weather of winter is upon us I am especially glad I live in Florida. As I am writing this, it is a chilly 61 degrees. Although most of you would love for it to be that warm where you are, there are some problems in paradise. This temperature is not cold enough for the heater to run all the time and so believe it or not, the air gets chilly, and as I am working at my desk my feet, hands and body get cold.

I think this is because my metabolism slows down and I am not creating body heat or burning fuel. I combat this by getting up from my desk and either moving around or doing some simple jumping jacks next to my desk. Just 2 or 3 minutes and my body feels warmer, and I am ready to sit back down.

This same idea seems to be valuable for children who have excess weight and obesity to help them control their glucose and their weight. Check out Item #6 and see if you think “jumping jacks” are the answer.

We can make a difference!
