I recently went in for my yearly check-up and had my labs done before the appointment. When my doc went over the values he saw some elevated liver enzymes. He looked at my med profile and honed in on the Celebrex, and when he realized I had been on the medication for the past 9 years, he advised me to taper off.

I decided to stop immediately, but was worried about the pain from my arthritis. He advised I double both my turmeric and glucosamine. I wasn’t sure that would work, but I was willing to try. I have been off the Celebrex for 3 months and have not had an increase in arthritis pain. Turmeric seems to help with a lot of health problems, and recently our intern, Jerrine Fletcher, Fourth Year Doctor of Pharmacy Candidate, Florida A&M University, found some good research on how turmeric has a positive effect on diabetes. Click here to find out what she learned.
