FreeStyle® InsuLinx Glucose Meter Recall 

Abbott has issued a recall for the FreeStyle InsuLinx Blood Glucose Meters in the United States to address the potential for an inaccurate reading at rare, extremely high blood glucose levels. The reason for the recall is similar to what made LifeScan recall their new OneTouch® Verio®IQ which had issues with ultra-high glucose measurements. Customers who are using the FreeStyle InsuLinx Meter can access a software update to resolve the issue at www.freestyleinsulinx.com/swupdate. Alternatively, customers can contact Abbott Diabetes Care Customer Service in the United States at 1-866-723-2697 to expedite return and replacement of their FreeStyle InsuLinx meter at no charge. No other Abbott blood glucose meters are impacted by this issue.

There are approximately 200,000 meters worldwide in customers’ possession; there are an additional 300,000 being recalled from distributors, wholesalers, doctors offices, pharmacies, etc. Abbott is retrieving these additional meters from the inventories of its sales representatives, physicians, retailers and distributors.
