There has been a lot of press and discussion about using SGLT-2 inhibitors in type 1 diabetes due to the risk of DKA. Many of these articles focused on what happened to patients when they got DKA and whether it could be shown if the relationship was causal or causative. When researchers dug into the studies they were able to identify a problem reason for the incidence of DKA and it actually revolved around the ability of the SGLT-2 inhibitors to lower insulin requirements too much.
