This week there has been a lot of cycling on TV, the Vuelta de Espana, Tour of Alberta, and the Tour of Britain. In addition, in our area many riders are training for the upcoming 6GAP competition in Georgia. Whether you look at the pros or at those of us who are trying to improve, we all have one thing in common: measuring our work and our success. We have power meters, cadence meters, speedometers, heart rate meters and the like and use these to maximize our potential. Interesting enough, our patients with diabetes also have multiple ways to measure their glucose performance and maximize their control, and this week our Clinical Text looks at using these devices to manage diabetes.

While we are on the subject of cycling, there are lots of studies that show this type of exercise can reverse the decrease in metabolism and our Homerun Slides look at how metabolism decreases and offers info on a medication that can actually reverse this decline.
