A few weeks ago an endocrinologist that I work with let me look at an article he had cut from a medical journal: the gist of the article was how the use of instant references on handheld devices and tablet computers was hurting the clinical abilities of newer medical practitioners. I know this is true as most of my interns reach for their iPhone or Android phone when I ask a clinical question. With this in mind our publisher, Steve Freed, went looking for tools to help us get better at clinical evaluations. This week we are going to start offering help from Trisha Dunning and Glen Ward, the co-editors of Managing Clinical Problems in Diabetes, and we begin with a case study to help you get going.

The Homerun Slides this week continue with the second half of the SMA presentation for your colleagues and our Disaster Averted focuses on why getting the right syringe can improve glycemic control.
