EASD: Lixisenatide Shows Potential: Lixisenatide monotherapy significantly improves glycemic control with a pronounced postprandial effect in patients with Type 2 diabetes, and is safe and well tolerated, according to a phase 3 trial. Lixisenatide is a new potent and selective once-daily GLP-1 receptor agonist in development for the treatment of Type 2 diabetes. The study patients showed significant improvement in Hb A1c in both lixisenatide titration groups versus placebo (P < .0001). Two-hour postprandial and fasting plasma glucose also improved significantly in the lixisenatide groups versus placebo.[Presentation title: Monotherapy With GLP-1 Receptor Agonist, Lixisenatide, Significantly Improves Glycaemic Control in Type 2 Diabetic Patients.
