A new report found patients with diabetes had a twofold increased risk of having a disability and were nearly three times as likely to develop a severe or profound disability compared with those without the disease. Researchers also found 40% of diabetes patients with a disability reported being permanently unable to work, compared with only 20% of those without diabetes who had a disability.
