Every time I look in the endocrinology journals and magazines, the last 4 or 5 pages are always chock full of employment opportunities for endocrinologists all over the country. Many of these ads are the same month after month, giving the indication of just how hard it is to find enough endocrinologists to take care of our burgeoning numbers of complex diabetes patients. One of the ways this shortage is being addressed is with the growth of physician assistants as endocrinology experts. What is their training and how do they impact patients in endocrinology practices all over the country?
Our publisher, Steve Freed, sat down with Ji Hyun Chun (CJ), MPAS, PA-C, BC-ADM, current President of the American Society of Endocrine Physician Assistants, at the recent AACE meeting, and together they discussed what a Endocrine PA is and what they do.
