Editor’s Note: Multiple Insulin Regimens and HOMA

As patients progress through the stages of diabetes from the simple use of Metformin to complex basal/bolus insulin regimens there are many stops along the way. This week Dr. Edelman and Dr. Henry focus on multiple shot insulin regimens for Type 2 patients.

We know that these patients are losing more than control, they are losing the battle to make insulin at all and often we order a C-Peptide or HOMA to determine the severity. While C-Peptide lets us know how much insulin is being secreted, this week’s Homerun Slides focus on the Homeostatic Model Assessment (HOMA) and how this differs in the information we receive.
