Looks like there is a real battle ahead for reform to health care. The change of Senators in the state of Massachusetts has altered the power in the Senate and changes the whole future of healthcare reform. So get ready for a lot of press coverage and no action.

Every year we get to review lots of new devices, gadgets and books and this year we wanted to get off to a quick start.

Our current intern, Ellen Bailey from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy, has just finished reviewing a new book, The Weight Loss Plan For Beating Diabetes by Frederic Vagnini, M.D., F.A.C.S. and Lawrence D. Chilnick. The book has some great tips that you can use for your patients, and is worth learning more about. To read more click here.

At the same time that Dr. Bailey was working on a review, our Dr. of Pharmacy candidate, from FAMU, Alex Brown, was giving the new Bayer Contour USB meter a long test drive. This new glucose meter has a color screen and a USB connector built right into the meter. To read Dr. Brown’s review of the new Contour USB click here.
