There are a lot of theories on the internet concerning what you are doing to your body if you take a statin. Unfortunately, these stories do not have a shred of evidence to prove what the writer is saying is actually true.
Unfortunately, many of our patients have more faith in Dr. Google than real medical professionals. I believe part of the reason is from the amount of data a company has to share to prove to the FDA their medication is legitimate. This versus the small amount for a product that someone touts on a TV commercial.
By the time you hear all those claims you are afraid to pick the first statin. But is that good for you if you have diabetes? This week our intern, Elmoataz Elmamoun, PharmD Candidate, 2022, South College School of Pharmacy, has combined lots of research on statins and adherence and how it affects patients with diabetes.
