Over the past couple of years there have been studies released and commentaries written about the detrimental effects of tight glycemic control. The studies seem to say tight control is not good, yet the practitioners say it is. Now, in the July 27, 2009, issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine, a long term study done by the NIH concludes that: Near-normal control of glucose beginning as soon as possible after diagnosis would greatly improve the long-term prognosis of Type 1 diabetes.
