Although, for most of us reading this week’s newsletter, the idea of giving a GLP-1 mimetic in a once a week shot presents no problem, there are many patients who could never tolerate even one shot per year. This can present a problem and cause prescribers to choose other medications.

Now that we have an oral GLP-1 medication it may be possible to help these patients, but how does it stack up against the results from other oral medications? Adam Chalela B.S., PharmD Candidate, USF College of Pharmacy, has a great comparison of the effects of this novel oral medication with a DPP4 inhibitor.
