When my wife was first diagnosed with diabetes we immediately started her on long acting insulin and the GLP-1 agonist Trulicity. I believe that the use of these 2 meds prolonged her insulin producing capacities for 3 years before the antibodies won out. This week we have a report from the ADA Scientific Sessions that points to the success of using GLP-1 agonists to restore and improve insulin secretion.
