I was with about 10 other riders at breakfast recently. I happened to hear the word “diabetes” and of course my ears perked up. When I asked Russ and Randy what they were talking about, the subject was food choices and insulin resistance. Seems that one of them had heard that if you eat high fat or high processed foods, it coats the lining of your vessels and makes it very difficult to absorb insulin.

I had to admit I was not familiar with this theory, but maybe there was some truth to it. This idea goes along with our Homerun Slides for the week as we present Part 6 of Framework for Understanding Diabetes.

Dyslipidemia: The relationship between cholesterol and cancer risk has been difficult to discern from epidemiologic studies.
