Editor’s Note, GLP-1 Analogs May 2015 Special Edition

This past weekend I was at the ADA regional meeting in Orlando. There were over 600 medical professional attendees, and over 40 presentations on medications and of those 28 had content on GLP-1 analogs. I got a chance to share with 200 attendees the real story on how the first GLP-1 was found, and how none of it would have occurred without the work of the Nobel Prize-winning researcher Dr. Rosalyn Yalow. She was a medical physicist who co-developed the radioimmunoassay (RIA) and whose colleague found the first usable compound for treating diabetes. As you check out this month’s special edition be sure to think about where our care would be without Dr. Yalow.
