Berkeley Citizens Vote for Sugary Drinks Tax

Citizens of Berkeley, California have voted for a tax on sugary drinks — a penny per ounce of soda, energy drink or sweetened tea — becoming the first city to pass such a tax in the U.S.. Proponents of the fee say it will help curb consumption of beverages contributing to the obesity epidemic.
