California, Texas and Florida Are the Nation’s Top Diabetes Hot Spots

These states will bear many of the costs of a growing diabetes epidemic in the next 15 years. By 2025, one out of seven Americans will have diabetes — a 64% increase from 2010, according to an analysis conducted by the Institute for Alternative Futures and funded by Novo Nordisk. The medical and societal cost of diabetes will be almost $514 billion, a 72% increase from 2010, IAF said. Currently these 10 states are responsible for nearly 60% of diabetes-related costs, they include #1 California, Texas, Florida, Ohio, Georgia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Michigan.
