Women with PTSD Have Higher Risk for Type 2 Diabetes

In this 22-year study of women, symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) were associated with the incidence of type 2 diabetes in a dose-dependent manner. The authors conclude that women with PTSD were at a twofold increased risk for having type 2 diabetes than counterparts without PTSD, and thus care for these patients should include addressing health behaviors that may contribute to obesity and type 2 diabetes. — JAMA Psychiatry, Jan 7, 2015, doi:10.1001/jamapsychiatry.2014.2632
