Type 2 Diabetes Linked to Low Vitamin D Levels

Low serum vitamin D levels are more closely associated with diabetes than obesity is, claim Spanish researchers, who go on to suggest that vitamin D deficiency may be linked to an increased risk for type 2 diabetes. They found that serum 25-hydroxy vitamin D levels are reduced in prediabetic and diabetic individuals compared with those who have normal blood glucose levels, independently of body mass index (BMI). — Feb 23, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism
