Diabetes in Control speaks with top endocrinologists and other medical professionals to bring you the latest in diabetes news and research. This week, we have another exclusive interview from the ADA 2018 in Orlando.
Sylvia H Ley, PhD, RD is a Research Scientist at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Associate Epidemiologist and Instructor at Brigham & Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Her overall research objectives are to develop the dietary strategies to prevent and manage diabetes and to investigate earlier life reproductive risk factors for diabetes and cardiovascular disease over the lifecourse. She led a highly cited systematic review article published in The Lancet, which was a key paper summarizing evidence on dietary strategies to prevent and manage T2D and setting foundations for continuing work in the research field. In her publication in Diabetes Care, she contributed additional population-based evidence utilizing large cohort study data, supporting that changing dietary patterns in adulthood has an impact on diabetes prevention.
