Pritchett & Hull Handouts

Pritchett & Hull Handouts are overwhelming choice of Medical Professionals

D. Joffe, R.Ph., CDE, FACA,

In a 60 day feedback survey conducted by Diabetes in Control for Pritchett & Hull, medical professionals from over 75 locations used 3 selected handouts from the nation’s number one education company.

Pritchett and Hull has been producing high quality patient education materials for over 28 years, and wanted professional feedback on three of their diabetes handouts.

These handouts focused on Carbohydrate Counting, Diabetes Exercise Plan, and Foot Care.

Each of these medical professionals gave these handouts out to their patients and based on the patients reaction graded the handouts. Over 2200 patients were introduced to the handouts.

Each of the medical professionals answered questions in a 1 and 2 month survey. The total results are seen as below. (See table 1-1)

Results of this study indicate a high level of patient understanding and these handouts work well to reinforce the instructions given by the medical professional.

In addition 94% of the respondents indicated they would definitely like to continue to use these handouts, and 92% would definitely recommend them to others.

In a related question, 90% of the respondents indicated that they would definitely recommend that the manufacturers supply them with handouts prepared by Pritchett & Hull, and 78% indicated that they or their clinic would definitely be willing to pay for these handouts and 17% would most likely be willing to pay for these handouts.

Comments include:

  • I especially loved the Carbohydrate Counting Sheet.  Gives a good basis for further instruction.

  • All the patients I have given these sheets to, have found them informative and easy to understand.

  • My only concern when all is said and done is going to be cost.  I am sure others are sitting with a strained budget as well.  We can get materials free from vendors.  They will never be as good as this material, but MAY be what we have to settle for.

  • I have been recommending this product to diabetic educators.  Patients like the lay out of the material and say it is easier for them to understand.

  • I'm teaching English Malaysian's who do not have access to this type of educational material. Most were very attentive to the material, and due to the simple presentation of the information felt non threatened by the format

  • Have been using these for CHO counting and exercise.  Not used across the board, as I select materials based on patient needs and abilities.  I do think they serve a purpose and will continue to use.

  • I am impressed with layout and color.  Patient response has been very positive.
