Sleep Duration Influences Exercise Duration

Women with shorter total sleep time also showed reduced exercise duration the following day, according to a small study. Results suggest that sleep influences next day exercise rather than exercise influencing sleep. The relationship between total sleep time (TST) and next day exercise was stronger for those with shorter TST at baseline. These results suggest that improving sleep may encourage exercise participation. However, daily exercise did not appear to affect sleep variables in patients, researchers noted.
