Severe, Mild Artery Disease Pose Similar Cardiac Risks

A new study indicated that diabetes patients with severe artery disease were 10 times as likely to suffer cardiac events, while those with mild artery disease had fivefold increased odds compared to those without blockage. The researchers analyzed data on 1,823 diabetic patients who underwent CCTA to detect and determine the extent of coronary artery disease. However, mortality risk was similar in patients with either severe or mild artery disease, the researchers reported. — Presented Dec 3, 2014, Radiological Society of North America Annual Meeting
