Rachele Berria MD, PhD is Vice President and Head, Diabetes Medical Unit at Sanofi, Bridgewater, New Jersey. She has a medical degree (undergrad/graduate combined program) and Obstetrics and Gynecology Board Certification from the University of Cagliari School of Medicine, Italy. Her many other educational accomplishments include a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas; Ph.D. Degree in Medical Pathophysiology and Pharmacology from the University of Pisa School of Medicine, Italy; a Fellowship in Diabetes and Metabolism from the Internal Medicine Department, University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas; and a Master Practitioner Certification in Effective Communication from the Neurolinguistic Programming Center of New York City, NY.
Dr. Berria is past recipient of ADA Mentor-based Postdoctoral Fellowship Awards (2000-2005) and William K. Warren Diabetes Fellow Award and past faculty (Assistant Professor of Reproductive Biology) at Case Western Reserve University, MetroHealth Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio. She is a clinical reproductive endocrinologist with more than 15 years of scientific experience in diabetes and its multiple associations/complications. She has an academic background in preclinical/clinical and translational research, with track record of numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications on several aspects of cardio-metabolism, insulin resistance and public speaking at relevant national and international conferences. She has functioned in multiple capacities in both Clinical Development and Medical Affairs, both at a Global and affiliate level. Dr. Berria is currently serving as Vice President and Head of the US Diabetes Medical Unit of Sanofi, comprised of several key diabetes compounds and solutions for patients with Diabetes.
