Letter from the Editor
We have all heard the phrase “kill two birds with one stone,” but did you know that it originally came from the story of Daedalus and Icarus, who escaped from the Labyrinth on Crete by making wings and flying out? This story comes from Greek Mythology; we use it now with no regard to the original meaning.
A good example of this is when we can use 1 pharmaceutical for 2 disease states. Our intern Deonna Andrews, PharmD Candidate FAMU College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science, took a look at the correlation between higher longer A1c values and cardiovascular events and then recommended a medication that could help both. Read her article and then see if you can figure out which drug can “kill two birds with one stone.”
