The GlycoMark test reflects
daytime (postprandial) glucose
spikes in moderately-controlled
patients over a period of
2 days to 2 weeks –
making GlycoMark an important
clinical tool as an adjunct
to A1C testing in maintaining
near-normal glycemia. The
GlycoMark test measures
the serum levels of 1,5-anhydroglucitol
(1,5AG), the 1-deoxy form
of glucose. When glucose
levels are high in diabetic
patients, 1,5AG levels decrease
within a short period of
time as a result of glucose’s
competitive inhibition of
1,5AG reabsorption in the
kidney.

GlycoMark
is an intermediate-term
glycemic test that provides
closer diabetes monitoring
by accurately reflecting more
recent glycemic status (1-2
days to 2 weeks) and providing
a physiological measure of
postprandial hyperglycemia
which may be important in
patients who are seemingly
in good glycemic control.

The
Guardian CGMS
A sensor that is inserted
just under the skin. It records
glucose levels using fluid
from the layer of fat between
your skin and muscle (called
“interstitial fluid”).
The system’s transmitter
receives blood glucose readings
from the sensor. It then relays
this information to a monitor
using radio waves. The transmitter
can be worn discreetly under
clothing.

Diatest
- A breath test developed
to measure insulin resistance.
Isodiagnostika has developed
a novel, non-invasive, non-radioactive
& convenient breath test
kit for the investigation
of insulin resistance, called
the DiatestTM. The test is
very simple to administer.
The patient exhales a normal
breath sample into the reference
labelled tube. After and one
half hours, the patient then
exhales a breath sample into
the second specimen tube.
The two tubes are then analyzed
by an isotope ratio mass spectrometer
(IRMS). Since DiatestTM is
non-radioactive, it is safe
for children over 10 years
of age and during pregnancy.

Regulatory submissions should
happen this year for using
to prevent strokes. Exanta,
is the first oral anticoagulant
to reach late stage clinical
development in almost 60
years. It's a DIRECT thrombin
inhibitor...starts working
in HOURS. Warfarin takes
several DAYS to deplete
clotting factors. Exanta
doesn't require dose adjustments...and
has a low risk of drug interactions.
Routine coagulation monitoring
is also not necessary. Expect
Exanta to be approved...probably
next year
