My good friend and owner of St. Pete Bike and Fitness, Mark Yeager, told me that April was the best month business-wise in his long history. He sells bikes costing as much as $13,000 (don’t ask me what mine cost), but most of the bikes he sold in his record month were priced around $400.

Riding a bike was one activity that you could do during our Stay at Home period, and so many, many people started riding.

Figuring that any exercise was better than none, we encouraged patients to ride slow and long; however, many of my riding friends with diabetes felt their glucose levels were better when they did some bursts of high intensity, high speed riding.

This week our intern, George McConnell, PharmD. Candidate, LECOM School of Pharmacy, has a great feature on how this idea of High Intensity Interval Training can make a real difference in glucose control.
